FAQ
Draft Companion Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Fantasy Life's Draft Companion?
Fantasy Life’s Draft Companion is a Chrome extension that runs as a live overlay directly alongside your existing draft room. No tab-switching and no second screen required. It's powered by the same rankings engine behind Fantasy Life's Draft Champion and includes rankings, a queue, player cards, roster view, projections and player availability percentages, all inside the panel.
2. What's the difference between Draft Champion and Draft Companion?
Draft Champion, Fantasy Life’s fantasy football mock draft simulator, is practice; Draft Companion is game day. Draft Champion is where you prep and run mocks, while Draft Companion delivers that same rankings intelligence live, inside your real draft, when every second counts.
3. Which fantasy football platforms does Draft Companion work with?
Draft Companion automatically plugs into the ESPN platform as you draft your team.
4. Do I have to manually update Draft Companion as player selections happen?
No. Once the extension is installed and your draft kicks off, it syncs automatically with your draft room in real time. Every selection — yours or anyone else's — is instantly reflected, drafted players disappear from the rankings, and player suggestions update. There's no manual refreshing and no lag.
5. Whose rankings does Draft Companion use?
You can draft off the Fantasy Life consensus or build your own blend from any combination of Matthew Berry, Dwain McFarland, Matthew Freedman, Kendall Valenzuela, Alex Cupps and Zain Dhanani. You can also adjust league parameters mid-draft—scoring format, ranking sets, strategy—and your recommendations update accordingly.
6. Can I tell whether a player will still be available at my next selection?
Yes. The Draft Companion runs a real-time projection of how likely a player is to still be on the board the next time you're on the clock, and players in your queue display availability probability percentages alongside their projections.
7. Does the Draft Companion queue replace the queue in my draft room?
No. The Draft Companion queue syncs bidirectionally with your draft room and lets you view projections and player availability percentages, but it does not function as a queue on the native draft site. You still need to build your queue inside your actual draft room to avoid an unwanted auto-draft selection if you time out.
8. How do I get Draft Companion and start using it?
Draft Companion is available exclusively for FantasyLife+ Tier 2 members. Upgrade to Tier 2, make sure your league is synced in Fantasy HQ, then finally install the Chrome extension and sign in with your Fantasy Life account. It syncs with your draft room automatically from there. You are ready to go!
9. Why isn't my ESPN league syncing?
For ESPN users, it's important that your league commissioner has your league set to "Public". This does not mean that your league is open to outsiders, but rather it allows important details about your league, such as scoring rules and league standings, become available to tools such as Draft Companion.
For more on how to enable or disable public access, and more details on what the setting does, check this ESPN Fan Support page.
10. Can I use Draft Companion with paid or prize-based fantasy contests?
No. Draft Companion is intended solely for free-to-play fantasy sports and may not be used with paid-entry contests, prediction markets, or games of skill that offer cash or other prizes of value. It does not facilitate gambling, sports betting, wagering, lotteries, or prediction markets.
